Poetry Corner

By Kevin Vincent Lazlo, a little brown monkey went for a walk in his three-piece suit As he walked down the street People stopped and stared And some even said, oh how cute He smiled and waved As he walked on by Drawing all the attention From the local shop owners And all of the passersby He walked all around town And up and down every street He would tilt his hat And even stop to shake hands With everyone he would meet When he got tired of walking He would stop and rest for a while He noticed people had started Walking around town with him And that made him smile Whenever he got thirsty He stopped for a banana milkshake Then drank it all down And was off on his walk again Once he had finished his break He did this all day To the amazement of everyone Even though it wasn’t understood What this was all about You could tell Lazlo was having fun Someone asked him the question What are you doing this for You don’t appear to be going anywhere Is there something you’ve lost Or are you out to explore? To which Lazlo responded, I really wasn’t trying to make a show I was simply tired of being bored sitting at home all dressed up With nowhere to go .
