The Western Grove Bears traveled to the Regional Tournament in Branch, Arkansas, at County Line High School to play the Mulberry Yellowjackets in a firstround contest. The winner advanced to the State Basketball Tournament and the loser’s season comes to a close.

Tournaments for Class 1A and 2A were scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 23. Both tournaments were delayed because of winter weather making travel treacherous. Tournaments began on Saturday, February 26 at 4 p.m. Because of the weather, the rarely used rule was put in place to allow schools to play on Sunday with games beginning at 1 p.m.

Strong, AR – After a hunter-harvested whitetailed deer taken in Union County tested positive for chronic wasting disease in December, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has confirmed that no additional sampled deer had been detected with the disease.

The Flippin Lady Bobcats face a conference nemesis Friday, February 18 to win the 2A-1 District Tournament on their on floor. The Yellville-Summit Lady Panthers opposed the Lady Bobcats for the third time this season and winning for the third time.

Robert Lyons The Western Grove Bears won both the Regular Season and District Championship titles for 2021-22 1A-1 basketball season. The Bears faced a major injury late in the season but were able to reload and continue the forward motion to both championships.
