Congratulations to the 2022 Y-S Panther Basketball Homecoming Court! We will celebrate our royalty with festivities beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14 at Panther Pavilion. The Panther and Lady Panther basketball games vs. Decatur will begin immediately following the ceremony. On Wednesday, Jan 5, 2022, at 12 p.m., Flippin High School held a ceremony in honor of Senior, Madi Hopson and her acceptance of scholarships in both volleyball and academics to Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.

The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament began on nine games on the schedule on Monday, December 27, at Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. Among the teams playing was Western Grove, Norfork, Cotter, Deer, Marshall and Valley Springs.

In a week that the nation lost several notable people, John Madden and Dan Reeves died sending the National Football League, the National Football Hall of Fame and fans everywhere into mourning. John Madden was a legendary football coach for the Oakland Raiders in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

On January 1, 2022, Daniel Edward Reeves died at age 77. Dan Reeves was a legendary football coach in the NFL for 23 years from 1981-2003. Reeves coached the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons as a head coach. He coached for the Dallas Cowboys in 1972 and 1974-1980.

We had several New Year’s Eve celebrations at the pool hall in the sixties. If you want to call it that! Nobody was all excited about seeing the year behind them gone for good, and the worst of winter just ahead. Mom and Dad would be home with friends, playing cards, drinking coffee and soda pop and eating fudge and cookies.
