Commission keeps conservation work on track

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioners at today’s meeting approved a $1 million budget transfer within the agency’s existing budget to complete the construction and installation of the Glaise Creek water-control structure on Henry Gray Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area to improve drainage and the capacity for sustainable bottomland hardwood forest management on the WMA.

Fishing on the Sac River

BA couple of weeks ago a friend and I found a stretch of the Sac River we wanted to fish, and a strange thing happened… we caught five incredibly large spotted bass on topwater lures. Often called Kentucky bass, they seldom are larger than 2 and 1/2 pounds in average waters of the Ozarks, even at four or five years of age.

Panthers Night in Decatur

Yellville-Summit Panthers defeated the Decatur Bulldogs 52-6 Friday, September 9. The Panthers won the coin toss and scored on the third play of the game. At the start of the game, the temperature was 78 degrees with an East wind at 4-mph and humidity was 55 percent.

Hogs take down Bearcats

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas ranked #19 hosted the #23 Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, September 3, at 2:30 p.m. at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in a non-conference football game. The game was the first meeting of the two teams and the first season opening victory for the Hogs over a ranked opponent since hosting #5 University of Southern California in Little Rock in 1974.
