Dear Marion County Officials, I have been providing information to Marion County officials for a number of years when asked specific questions by any of the county elected officials or by justices of the quorum court - and I’m glad to do so. That’s my job, at least in part. I’ve been doing this kind of work for better than 42 years and probably know county government operations and law as well as anyone in the state. But, in just the last few months it appears that my answers to questions get miscommunicated; misconstrued; and/or misunderstood by some.

This Week in Marion County

The week ahead is not expected to be a heavy week. The Editor will attend a City Council Meeting, cover a high school student signing a National Letter of Intent to play sports at a Division-1 University, find a great place to eat breakfast and cover a local business that donates all revenue.

Editorial Notes:

The Yellville-Summit School Board is scheduled to meet Monday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Y-S District Building for their regularly scheduled meeting. The board will discuss financials, equipment and possible projects to improve the school.

Planning and Zoning Commission

Given the cancellation of the Planning and Zoning meeting by the mayor of Bull Shoals for unknown reasons on May 24, clarification is needed regarding the position of the Bull Shoals Planning and Zoning Commission. Planning Commissions were created in 1947, amended 1957, by the state of Arkansas separate from the creation of city codes per ACA 14-56-404 – 409.

Recently, citizens in Bull Shoals have expressed serious concerns about the way the city is being run. The information coming from the citizens is being looked at by The Mountain Echo newspaper.
