TLP to hold Auditions

Cindy Young Twin Lakes Playhouse has announced open auditions for its next production of the season, Outside Mullingar, to be directed by Olivia Wolfe. Auditions will be held Saturday, February 24, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, February 25, at 6 p.m.

Catching up with Y-S Schools

The Yellville-Summit Middle School, Y-S Middle School, had a fantastic week of academic competitions. Carter Metcalf won 1st place in the Marion County Spelling Bee and will go on to compete at the Arkansas State Spelling Bee scheduled March 9. Two years in a roll, way to go, Carter. Braden Walker was runner-up at the Marion County. Y-S Middle School was well represented in the Marion County Spelling Bee.

Scholarships Available for Arkansas Students

Little Rock – Scholarships are now available for eligible Arkansas students through Arkansas Community Foundation. The Community Foundation’s scholarships are for Arkansas students pursuing education at two- or four-year colleges or universities, vocational schools or technical training programs. Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria. Some scholarships are designated for graduates of a particular high school or those who plan to attend a particular college. Others are based on extracurricular activities or intended college majors.

OMH Sweeps Jr. Championship

The Ozark Mountain Bears defeated the Yellville-Summit Panthers to win the 2A District Championship Saturday, February 10, at Greenland High School 54-36.

Pets of the Week

Have-A-Heart Pet Shelter Last week, Have A Heart Pet Shelter once again hosted a three-day Volunteer Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. Approximately 120 dogs and cats were sterilized, meaning that 120 dogs and cats will not be producing unwanted litters and contributing to the pet overpopulation problem that plagues our community.
