Fishin’ with Otters

I hate to be laughed at! But I know a bunch of you folks out there are going to laugh at this… In southern Bangladesh there are native people who live along the rivers that feed the ocean, who train otters and use them to fish in those tributaries. Those otters are bred in captivity and trained to herd fish into the nets of village fishermen.

BNR seeks public comments for a plan to improve accessibility

Harrison – Buffalo National River is seeking comments on a draft plan that provides for more inclusive experiences for visitors with disabilities. The draft plan, a self-evaluation and transition plan (SETP), identifies areas in the park where the accessibility of public structures, campsites, river access points, signs, and services can be improved. The SETP outlines specific areas where accessibility barriers exist and identifies critical steps towards meaningful solutions. These opportunities for improvements will be a roadmap for future upgrades in the park as funding and compliance with federal laws, such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), allow.
