Valenzuela Joins HUD as Regional Administrator in the Southwest

Fort Worth – On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced the appointment of Candance Valenzuela to serve as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s regional administrator in the Southwest (Region VI). As regional administrator, Valenzuela will be based in Fort Worth and will oversee HUD operations, eight field offices and federal housing assistance throughout the five-state region, which covers Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. She is one of 10 HUD regional administrators appointed by the Biden-Harris Administration.

Hello friends and readers of the Mountaineer Echo, I hope this week finds you all healthy and in happy spirits. The calendar says it is Spring, but the temperature outside says different. I am ready for it to get warmer. But defiantly not ready for 100 degrees. I will take the 80’s all year long please. So, I hope everyone had a great Spring Break. We had a good one, didn’t really do too much just worked and enjoyed time with the family. This week I am giving you some recipes of Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches which I find very tasty. Also here are a few things that I love to eat with peanut butter, it is a good snack and when added with apples, celery, crackers, strawberries, it is a refreshing taste. New continuing education platform for Arkansas Library Community

Little Rock - The Arkansas State Library will soon be offering a new Continuing Education platform for the Arkansas library community called People Connect Institute, or PCI Webinars, beginning April 1, 2022. PCI Webinars offers four (4) live webinar programs per month on a variety of library-related topics. Live programs are recorded, professionally edited, and made available to the Arkansas State Library on the Niche Academy platform. Participants in the live webinar sessions will receive a professional development certificate from PCI for their records. The Arkansas State Library will be provided access to more than 250 archived webinar programs with 24/7 access from PCI that will be available for the Arkansas library community.

BSCC Workshop

Bull Shoals City Council met March 22, for the monthly workshop. Mayor, David Nixon announced there is a court date May 10 for the Village Mart Shopping Center at 928 Central Blvd (the old Harp’s), so the long-standing issue of the status of the building will be in the Court process. The City has petitioned for a Court order to have the building’s condition inspected. Nixon also said the city received a judgment against a mobile home at 903 Bull Shoals Dam Blvd (Hwy 178). The City now has the legal right to mitigate the condemned mobile home and will follow the correct process to do that.
