Arkansas Weekly Gas Price Update

Average gasoline prices in Arkansas have fallen 11.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.88/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,826 stations in Arkansas. Prices in Arkansas are 33.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 6.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 13.6 cents in the last week and stands at $5.06 per gallon.

Lucian King WWII Veteran Gone but not Forgotten

Lucian R. King was born April 22, 1925, in Kingdon Springs, Arkansas. Lucian spoke of the days growing up there as a child and into his young adult years. Lucian had six sisters and two brothers, which both brothers were drafted into the military during war times. Lucian decided that he would rather choose his branch of service instead of being drafted and enlisted in the Army Air Corp on July 16, 1943, which would later become the Army Air Force.

School Days in the ‘60s

Last week I shared some writings of my father, Lyle Wood. In particular, he had written about the ten years he served on the Flippin School Board, 1965-75. He recalled some of the men he’d served with on the Board, as well as naming some of the teachers and staff hired during that time. I recognized all those names and it got me thinking about the teachers I have had.
