The Flippin School Board met Monday, December 19, at 6 p.m. in the Flippin School District Central Office to discuss the principal reports, hiring teachers, projects and transfers. Brent Mitchell, Curt Bryant, Stacie Goldsmith, along with Kelvin Hudson were in attendance. Roger Leonard and Brian Benedict were absent from the meeting.

The CALL in Marion County Hosted a Christmas Party for our Foster Children and Families at The Venue at the Red Raven in Yellville on Saturday, December 10. Thank you so much to all who contributed to this beautiful event, and a special acknowledgment to Twisted Sisters Boutique in Flippin and Ooh La Las in Yellville.

Thursday, November 10 at the Arkansas Hospital Association Annual Meeting in Hot Springs, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center’s COVID committee comprised of Jennifer Sadler, M.D., Brent Rosson, M.D., and Brandon Hicks, M. D. were awarded the Arkansas Hospital Association “Distinguished Service Award” for their contribution and willingness to serve our community and the five counties totaling over 95,000 people that NARMC serves.

As much as I loved my two little grandsons, I didn’t get either of them a Christmas present when they were young. That’s because they had toys stacked so high in their home that you couldn’t see any corners. I think back on those great Christmases when I was a kid, when there was common sense and simplicity left in this world. I wish all kids could experience such a Christmas. I just lived for a new two-gun and holster set and a cowboy hat at Christmas when I was five or six. Nowadays, if a little kid has a toy gun, somebody is scared to death he’ll point it at someone and go “bang-bang”, like I and a thousand other kids born during the days of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers did.

Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post 1341 in Bull Shoals is honored to award Marlene Hada, the Family and Consumer Science Teacher at Yellville Summit High School, as VFW Post 1341’s Teacher of the Year 2021-2022.
