Do you remember what your pastures looked like last summer during the drought? Were they brown and bare or were they still maintaining some fodder for livestock to consume? What changes do you need to make to your pastures to be able to provide adequate nutrition for livestock in the case that we have another drought? These are questions we need to ask ourselves as we plan for changes or additions to our pasture management. Are some forages more drought tolerant than others? Typically, a warm season grass will have qualities that help it maintain through dry conditions.

Mail Theft Suspects Arrested

According to Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, deputies have arrested two (2) suspects on charges related to several mail thefts in Marion County. Sheriff Alexander reports that deputies responded to an area on Broadway Street in Yellville on the morning of February 8, 2023, after a citizen reported seeing two (2) people taking items from mailboxes on the street.

Spring Break is coming

Sam’s Throne recreation area is located in the Ozark National Forest in Jasper. Sam’s Throne provides a breathtaking hike. The 2 ½-mile trail begins in a forested region and quickly makes its way to the edge of a bluff. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 14 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, camping, and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. This fairly easy trail allows you to take in an expansive view of trees and mountains visible in all directions.
