The Arkansas Natural Sky Association (ANSA), the state’s affiliate of the International Dark-Sky Association, has been successful in receiving grant funds to place 48 telescopes in 35 library locations in 18 Arkansas counties over the last 3-years and the program is continuing.

John Straight was a navy corpsman who served with the marines in Vietnam. John was born in 1944 in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander reports that additional charges have been filed on two (2) suspects originally arrested in Marion County for stealing mail from residential mailboxes. Sheriff Alexander reported that suspects WHITNEY NICOLE TOWNSEND and TYLER STEVEN DUDLEY were originally arrested on February 8, 2023 in connection with several area mail thefts that occurred in late January and early February of this year after local citizens reported observing the suspects stealing mail from mailboxes in a Yellville neighborhood.

Hundreds of high school students play basketball in Arkansas each year. The ages vary because of the grade level of the students but each player wants to score as many points as possible and lead their team in scoring or to the state title.

Kyle Evatt, the Region 2 Prevention Provider with the North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education (NAPHE) donated 2 Verkada Vape Detectors to the Valley Springs School District. Vape detectors work to address the ongoing student vaping epidemic.
