Little Rock - The United States Air Force auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol, has approved a new squadron named in honor of an Arkansas native and an original Tuskegee Airman, Dr. Milton Pitts Crenchaw, at Little Rock School District’s Cloverdale Middle School. Crenchaw Memorial Squadron will also be Civil Air Patrol’s first school-based squadron in Arkansas.

The Yellville-Summit School Board met Tuesday, May 2, to participate in State required training. The Board conducted the training and informed the newspaper to comply with the notification law as set forth by the State of Arkansas. The training began and was completed on May 2.

Colorado’s first-in-the-nation law allowing farmers to repair their own equipment could be “the first chink in the armor” that has allowed only manufacturers to complete some repairs, said Rusty Rumley, senior staff attorney for the National Agricultural Law Center. Average gasoline prices in Arkansas have fallen 4.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.17/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,826 stations in Arkansas. Prices in Arkansas are 10.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 60.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Bull Shoals City Council met in regular session Thursday, April 27, with all council members in attendance, as well as Mayor Mike Savu and Recorder Tina Bailey. The mayor called the meeting to order and cautioned all in attendance to refrain from speaking over each other during the meeting. After the body recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call was conducted, the Council quickly moved through approval of the March meeting minutes.

Creel census figures show that they make up the largest percentage of fish caught, and fish kept by stream fishermen in the Ozarks. Missouri fisheries people once kept track of the fish coming out of the Big Piney, Current, Niangua, Huzzah, and Courtois, and they figured goggleeye made up 25 to 35 percent of the fish caught and kept. It is likely they overlooked the green sunfish caught when they did that survey.
