We’re “Celebrating Maya @95” throughout April 2023

LITTLE ROCK - Since 2015, Celebrate! Maya Project has celebrated the life and legacy of iconic poet and writer Dr. Maya Angelou. This year marks her 95th Birthday, and we are celebrating her life throughout the month of April! “We are celebrating all that Dr. Angelou has contributed to the world, to America and to Arkansas, her childhood home,” Celebrate! Maya Project president Janis F. Kearney, said.

The “Old Flippin Jail” is History

The City of Flippin held a celebration and Dedication Ceremony at the “Old Flippin Jail” on the corner of Park Street and 2nd Street on Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. The Marion County Heritage Society, with assistance from the City of Flippin and the Division of Arkansas Heritage, worked over the last year to have the historic jail placed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places and is working toward having it placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
