CROOKED CREEK

Have you ever looked at someone’s lawn and thought how nice and manicured it looked and wish that yours looked that way? Or do you prefer the look that comes from flowers and grasses being different heights and in various stages of blooming? Everyone has a different opinion on what their yard should look like and in the end it’s all personal preference. Grass makes up much of the lawn vegetation in the area, and lush green grass is aesthetically pleasing, but are wild-flowers, dandelions or other flora bad to leave for the pollinators and other wildlife? Some might wonder about my lawn mowing skills because there are usually patches scattered throughout my yard that are not mowed each time and those patches may be different each time the yard is mown.

Veteran of the Week

Friends of Marion County Veterans Army veteran Cheryl Westfall was born in 1971, in Janesville, Wisconsin, and shortly after that they moved to North Pole, Alaska where she graduated from high school and immediately joined the army at age 17.
