Pictured here are local students that are organizing and conducting the Arkansas Young Artist Association State Convention and Competition. The convention involves over 1,300 students, teachers, college professors, speakers and art leaders in Arkansas.

Mercury Apparel are invited to the Second Annual “CM family reunion” to be held Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Pavilion #1, 129 Bull Shoals Park, Lakeview, AR 72642. (Same location as last year.)

The Marion County Quorum Court met Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m., in the Marion County Courthouse to discuss the reports from county officials, proposed ordinances and other county business. Justices Miles Wellein, Claudia Brigham, Wesley Shipman, Rick White, Rolin Hutching, John Reed and Marty Nickels were in attendance along with Jason Stumph and Dawn Moffet. Talon Vancuren was absent from the meeting.

The legislature convened the fiscal session and will spend the next month working on a $6.3 billion budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The legislature has always approved conservative budgets, and the balanced budget proposed by the governor is very conservative even by traditional standards.

Gregg L. Alexander, Sheriff On April 11, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Marion County deputies were dispatched to the Welcome Ridge boat launch area in northern Marion County because local residents located the body of an unidentified white female, floating just offshore in Bull Shoals Lake.
