by Cassie Branstetter, Branch Chief of Interpretation Harrison - The National Park Service has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) after completing an Environmental Assessment (EA) of proposed county and state led efforts to reconstruct and repave the 1.8-mile section of Cave Mountain Road (Newton County Road 9560) that crosses Buffalo National River’s Park boundaries. The National Park Service approves the implementation of the proposed action.

Last week Bull Shoals Library introduced readers to local writer Mark Dobbs who has a poker run names after him. Here is more of his story. Mark has written two books. In the novel Fracked! he tells of the search for the cause of geologic nightmares that are rapidly escalating and could lead to a regional apocalypse – the collapse of Bull Shoals Lake. The book is filled with accurate details about the area which makes it an even more interesting read for those who live in and know the area. You may recognize some of the people even though the names have been changed to protect those who inspired the characters.
