Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia. It began as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Similarly named festival holidays occur in Germany and Japan.
Annually, the VFW Post 1341 in Bull Shoals collects donations for holiday food boxes. This pictures displays the Allen’s Grocery donating food for people that need a little assistance.
Friday, November 11, Veteran’s Day, Yellville- Summit Schools celebrated local veterans for their service. Y-S annually honors veterans that honorable served the United States.
As I’ve mentioned before, some weeks the words flow easily. Other weeks I lay awake at night wondering what I have worth writing about that y’all might want to read.
Here it is, Thanksgiving week, and Have a Heart Shelter, is thankful for another successful Soup and Chili Supper with Cake and Pie Auction this past Saturday. There was a packed house of community supporters, but we are all beat and we will report more results next week.
In a longstanding tradition, the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s Department of Music and Theatre will present Season’s Greetings, a wide-ranging concert, featuring some of the season’s favorite and best-known music, performed by every major musical ensemble in the department.
honors donors, launches literacy endowment Mountain Home – The Twin Lakes Community Foundation (TLCF) announced the establishment of an endowment to support childhood literacy during its donor appreciation luncheon. The Early Childhood Education for Twin Lakes Area Endowment was formed in honor of the organization’s 20th anniversary.
