It’s recently been brought to our attention that a few members of our community are spreading false information about Have-A-Heart. In our continuing efforts to be completely transparent, we would like to give you some facts about the shelter so you can rest assured that your support is not misguided.

The dog of the week is Lori! Lori is a lovable tri-colored shepherd mix estimated around six or seven months old and is well socialized. Her personality makes her an ideal companion dog.

Greetings everyone! This week’s Dog of the Week is a bit different. We’ve featured CiCi before and have found potential adopters for her but she needs advanced veterinary care so she can have a healthy happy life Folks, would you like to help a very deserving dog who needs special medical care? Well, here’s your gal.

– Baxter Health is proud to welcome vascular surgeon Nestor Arita, MD, to the medical staff. He will be joining the Baxter Health Heart and Vascular Clinic and the practice of Dr. Heath Broussard, Dr. F. Michael Bauer, Dr. James Munns, Dr. Kent Nachtigal, and nurse practitioners Emily Brown and Kathy Prinner, on August 1, 2024.

Things have really been hopping at the Shelter lately! As many of you know, Have-AHeart Pet Shelter (HAH) will be holding weekly low-cost spay and neuter clinics in our surgical suite. These clinics are supported by the Bissell Pet Foundation’s “Fix the Future” initiative.

Greetings everyone! We hope all the dads out there had a good Father’s Day, including all your pet Dads! This week we don’t have a featured kitty as most of our cats and kittens are almost finished with their medicine treatment for upper respiratory illness. Once that is completed, we will be ready to feature them for adoption soon! In the meantime, Have-A-Heart would like to remind everyone that cats can get pregnant at as young as four months old (babies having babies!).

Our Dog of the Week is Heidi! This little bundle of energy is a Mountain Feist, about six months old and stands about 18 inches tall. Heidi came to Have-A-Heart (HAH) with her three sisters, all emaciated and scared of people.
