Greetings to everyone! We hope y’all enjoyed Turkey Trot this weekend and we want to thank everyone who dropped by our booth to visit and shop! This week, our kitty of the week is Wally! This little boy was found with his two sisters behind a local gas station’s cardboard dumpster. A good Samaritan who was picking up the cardboard for the Transfer Station saw them and contacted the Shelter.

Kayak Raffle Winner from Turkey Trot

Pictured to the right: Gwen Stice is the winner of the Marion County Community Services Kayak Raffle. Gwen’s name was drawn for the Perception Hangtime Kayak at the 78th Annual Turkey Trot. 100 percent of all proceeds from this raffle go to the Marion County Community Center Project. In preparation for the Flippin School Veterans Day program, on November 11, submissions for the “Gallery of Honor” are now being accepted. The Gallery of Honor is open to all students, staff and community members to submit copies of photos along with an information sheet, of any loved one or friend that they would like to honor.

Free Dental Care for Eligible Veterans

LITTLE ROCK— Arkansas veterans may be eligible to receive free dental care on November 1, during the 3rd annual Operation Stand Down. Dentists at seven participating dental clinics across the state will volunteer their time and expertise to provide acute/urgent pain relief, oral exams, X-rays, extractions, routine maintenance and more.

“My son, fear thou the LORD, and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change.” (Proverbs 24:21) Well, at the time of this writing, the sassafras is beginning to turn red, the sumac also. The sugar maple standing in front of the First Baptist Church in Cabool is putting on the many shades of orange it dons each Autumn. This time of year, (my favorite), Mrs. and I often park up on the hill on the shoulder of South 181 and look north upon the little town of Cabool - a perfect picture of small-town America.
