Thursday, March 6 at 2 p.m., John Montgomery, Baxter County Sheriff, on the south lawn of the Baxter County Courthouse, announced he has officially decided to retire after a long successful law enforcement career.

Darren Kendrick of Lead Hill

Darren Sean Kendrick, 55, of Lead Hill, passed away on March 3, 2025. He was born on August 27, 1969, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, the son of Chester Eugene Kendrick Jr. and Janice Virginia Conrad Kendrick. As a child he was involved heavily in athletics, mainly baseball, as influenced by his grandfather Chester Kendrick Sr, who had played ball professionally. He was a talented artist and craftsman, sharing his father’s passion for music and taking the likes of rock and roll classics to country music.

Judith Ann Gass Lane passed peacefully, early March 1, 2025, in her beloved home surrounded by family in Omaha. She was born on October 22, 1939, in Bellville, Illinois, to Alfred and Emma Gass, the third daughter in a family of six children.
