DAVA Meeting Scheduled

The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Twin Lakes Unit 30 will be meeting on Wednesday November 20, 2024. The location will be the Heinz-Willett Wellness Center at Lake Forest Senior Living (formerly Good Samaritan), 300 Good Samaritan Drive, Mountain Home.

Senate Speech Proposing First Presumptive Conditions for Great War Veterans

By the Veterans Administration After World War I, claims for disability from discharged soldiers poured into the offices of the Bureau of War Risk Insurance, the federal agency responsible for evaluating them. By mid-1921, the bureau had awarded some amount of compensation to 337,000 Veterans. But 258,000 had been denied benefits. Some of the men turned away were suffering from tuberculosis or neuropsychiatric disorders. These Veterans were often rebuffed not because bureau officials doubted the validity or seriousness of their ailments, but for a different reason: they could not prove their conditions were service connected.

Pets and the Holidays at HAH

With the holiday season quickly approaching, the Have-A-Heart Pet Shelter, HAH, will hold its largest annual fundraiser, the 8th Annual Soup and Chili Supper, Saturday, November 23. From 5 to 8 p.m., ticket holders can avail themselves of tasty homemade soups and chili (with crackers or cornbread), beverages, and a small dessert...all for a small donation of $8.

Trailer Lights

I have yet to figure out how to get trailer lights to work. I have four different boat trailers, which I have wired up, and none of them work like any of the others. One works fine when the pickup lights are on, but the turn signals don’t work at all. Another one has the running lights working on one side and the turn signal lights on the other side, but all the time, one or the other doesn’t work.
