Butterfly Release at Hospice

The mission of Hospice of the Ozarks is “To improve the quality of life for individuals and their families in the last phases of an incurable illness and in times of grief.” There are many facets of fulfilling this mission and one of those took place last Thursday, September 28, when the organization hosted its annual Celebration of Life Luncheon and Butterfly Release with a record attendance of approximately 250 people there to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

Has there been a disappearance of grasslands in our area over the last several years? Why has this happened? What can we do about it? While the information I am going to supply in this article refers to neighboring states, many principles can be enacted in our area due to many of the same climate conditions. Grasslands come in various forms — wetland bogs, rocky barrens, lush prairies, even woodlands — anywhere the tree cover is sparse enough to allow grasses, flowers and other small plants to flourish.

Marion County 4-H Loves Their Volunteers

by Billie Collins, County Extension Agent Marion County 4-H is so lucky to have such a great volunteer base, the program would not be possible without them!! We want to celebrate all our certified club leader volunteers and all the parent volunteers who donate their time & effort to the advancement of our 4-H youth! Last year in Arkansas 4-H volunteers put in over 56,500 hours, valued at $1.5 million!!!! Now, that is something to celebrate! Marion County Certified club leaders include Glenda Rozeboom, Makala Rozeboom, Shelley Crombie, Ben Crombie, Stephanie Evans, Tristen McNair, Casey McNair, Jenniffer Gryder, Russell Stocksdale, Christiene Yancey, Amy Robins, and Catherine Reynolds.
