A Drama in the Woods

I was just in the right place at the right time to see it, and it didn’t last long. A hawk came out of the timber and passed across a small opening in the woods with a cluster of oak leaves in his talons, pursued by four or five screeching small birds.

CROOKED CREEK

Have you ever looked at someone’s lawn and thought how nice and manicured it looked and wish that yours looked that way? Or do you prefer the look that comes from flowers and grasses being different heights and in various stages of blooming? Everyone has a different opinion on what their yard should look like and in the end it’s all personal preference. Grass makes up much of the lawn vegetation in the area, and lush green grass is aesthetically pleasing, but are wild-flowers, dandelions or other flora bad to leave for the pollinators and other wildlife? HB’s Homestyle Cooking

Welcome back to the kitchen y’all. I am so excited about this weekend and celebrating Memorial Day with my family and friends. The ultimate choice of what to cook for the big Memorial Day lunch/dinner is truly a tough decision; do we go with tradition and grill burgers and hotdogs, or do we switch things up with some steak, chicken, and pork kebobs?! I think we will switch things up and do kebobs this year. One of my semi-local grocery stores had whole pork loins on sale for right at $20 each and split chicken breasts for .97 cents a lb.! I call that a great deal and since we normally feed an army, we won’t be breaking the bank to do it ha-ha. So here is the recipe I will be using to make these kebobs, but feel free to add different veggies, or different kinds of meat if you aren’t a fan of something.
