Marion County Community Center Project Board Meets with ETC Engineers & Architects

Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the Community Center Project Floor Plan Committee met with ETC Engineers & Architects to discuss revisions to the original Community Center floor plan. Last October 2022, ETC of Little Rock presented their initial floor plan for the proposed Marion County Community Center to Marion County Community Services, Inc.

Memorial Day at the Hut

On Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, The Yellville American Legion Post #61 will hold ceremonies starting at 10 a.m. The National Anthem will be sung by Katie Abbott, guest speaker will be Owen Robertson and bugle call (TAPS) will be played by Kirstin Hughey. This year there will be a flag retirement ceremony (To the Colors) bugle call will be played. A representative flag will be folded then unusable flags will be burned. Refreshments after by the American Legion Auxiliary and Post #61.

What I am fixin’ to tell you now about a fascinating bird, is not what I learned from the ornithology professors in college and what they taught about the great blue heron, it is from what I learned as a boy guiding float-fishermen down the Big Piney, and sitting on the front bench of our pool hall, listening to oldtimers who seemed to have very little use for that bird.

C otter Scholarships

Submitted by Deanna Franks, Cotter Schools The Cotter High School Graduating Class of 2023 earned $875, 174 in scholarships. These students will be attending colleges, trade schools, the military, and completing certification programs in their desired career fields.
