Mountain Home Moose Lodge #1953 will hold its monthly all-u-can-eat fried fish and shrimp dinner this coming Friday, December 2, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Guests may order fried fish, fried shrimp or a combination plate which also includes hushpuppies, French fries, coleslaw, vegetable, roll, dessert and a beverage.

School Days in the ‘60s

Last week I shared some writings of my father, Lyle Wood. In particular, he had written about the ten years he served on the Flippin School Board, 1965-75. He recalled some of the men he’d served with on the Board, as well as naming some of the teachers and staff hired during that time. I recognized all those names and it got me thinking about the teachers I have had.

BSCC discusses issues facing the City

The Bull Shoals City Council (BSCC) met Thursday, November 17, at 6:30 inside Bull Shoals (BS) Courtroom to discuss items concerning city departments, financial reports and progress in the building known as the Village Mart or the “old Harps building”. Joey Grede, Daryl Lindman, Chuck Kinler, David McBee, Dr. Kirby Davenport was present to represent the city council, along with David Nixon, mayor. Dino Giannini was absent from the meeting.

Christmas on the Square

Yellville music on the square is proud to present the 1st annual Christmas on the Square on December 3. Come join us from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a Christmas parade and music. Spanish Poetry Slams at UAFS

Fort Smith - Students from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith conquered stage fright to throw down in the form of poetry during the Department of World Languages’ Spanish Poetry Slam, November 10 in the UAFS Windgate Theater. More than 120 students attended the slam, many of whom participated themselves.

Lucian King, age 97, of Flippin passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, November 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 22, 1925, in Kingdon Springs, a son of the Robert Eli and Bell Wilson King.
