Panthers fall to Greyhounds

Friday, October 28, the Yellville-Summit Panthers traveled to Newport to face the Greyhounds for the regular season’s final conference football game. The Panthers won the coin toss to start the game and elected to receive the opening kickoff.

Barton BC Women’s Club Champ

MOUNTAIN HOME - Alyssia Barton is the 2022 Big Creek Golf & Country Club Women’s Stroke Play Club Champion. Alyssia edged out runner-up Judy Matty by two shots. Past Champion Janet Cooper Wood finished third. Judy won the net division by six strokes over Janet. Arkansas Weekly Gas Price Update

Average gasoline prices in Arkansas have fallen 7.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.21/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,826 stations in Arkansas. Prices in Arkansas are 1.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 14.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Thank You Cotter High School

This week, we would like to pay tribute to Caleb Shaw and Hudson Adams, two seniors from Cotter High School, who held a fundraiser at their school to benefit the animals at Have-A-Heart Pet Shelter. They collected 219 pounds of dog food, 143 pounds of cat food, 31 pounds of treats as well as toys, blankets, bandannas, and pee pads. When people speak disparagingly about the younger generation, they need to know there are still a lot of great, caring kids out there. A big, heartfelt “Thank you!” to Hudson and Caleb. You rock.

Twin Lakes Playhouse announces auditions

Twin Lakes Playhouse announces upcoming auditions for its first production of the 2023 season. Directed by Cindy Young, The Diary of Anne Frank will be performed in January and open auditions are being held this Saturday, November 5, at 10 a.m. and Sunday, November 6, at 2 p.m. at the Playhouse, located at 600 West Sixth Street in Mountain Home.

Our pet of the week is Toffee.

This sweet girl came up to a house on Hwy 62 E very pregnant. The people who found her took care of her and the litter of pups until they were weaned. The pups were sent to a puppy rescue when they were 8 weeks old, where they have a greater chance to be adopted.
