Hovell-Barnett Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1341 is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates” forum on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in the Post Hall, 1201 Central Blvd. (Hwy 178) in Bull Shoals for contested positions in this local Municipality race. Each candidate will take center stage to explain their qualifications.
She will be at the Northwest Arkansas Quilt Congress on Friday, October 14, 5 – 9 p.m., and all day on Saturday, October 15, at the Baxter County Fairgrounds. Co-hosts of the Quilt Congress are Hill ‘N Hollow Quilters Guild of Mountain Home and Country Quilters Quilt Guild of Salem.
The Bull Shoals City Council met in regular session September 29, with Councilmen Chuck Kinler and Dino Giannini not in attendance. The Council breezed through it’s printed agenda which included Department Reports, Treasurer’s Report, Building Inspection update, water board training, and changing the November meeting and workshop dates due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
HOT SPRINGS, - What started as a desire to connect roller coasters to learning culminated in Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadets from all over Arkansas and parts of Oklahoma to converge on the amusement park, Magic Springs on Saturday September 24, 2022. The notion of using amusement park rides to teach STEM, to teenagers began with CAP Master Sgt. Gary Podgurski, a member of the 83rd Composite Squadron, Fort Smith.
Leland Butch Haynes of Yellville, Arkansas, age 79, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in his home. He was born on April 20, 1943, in Summit, son of Catherine Haynes Davenport and raised by his grandparents, Joe and Josie Haynes.
Eddy V. Patterson, age 89, of Yellville, passed away Saturday October 1, 2022, in Mountain Home. Eddy was born February 27, 1933, to Thurman and Zella Matlock Patterson in the Greasy Creek area of Yellville.
Doris Eileen Bahan Branaman Houser of Flippin, passed away September 29, 2022, in Flippin at the age of 95. She was born March 29, 1927, in Minier, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Izora Hurley Bahan.
Marion “MJ” Dames of Flippin, passed away September 28, 2022, in Flippin at the age of 90. MJ was born June 13, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Virgil and Dorothy (Dot) Reynolds.
