Federal Broadband Projects Must Prioritize Rural America

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) joined Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) and several of their Senate colleagues in sending a letter to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) expressing the importance of reliable broadband service for rural America and requesting federally-funded broadband projects prioritize unserved areas instead of overbuilding existing broadband infrastructure in areas with reliable broadband service.

Boozman Takes Action to Prevent Illegal Immigrants from Using Arrest Warrants as TSA Identification

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) is taking action to prevent the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) from allowing illegal immigrants to use immigration enforcement documents, such as arrest warrants, as identification when boarding commercial flights.

BNR Seeks Public Comments on the Cave Mountain Road Environmental Assessment

Harrison- The National Park Service (NPS) has released an Environmental Assessment (EA) that analyzes a county and state led effort to reconstruct and repave the 1.8-mile section of Cave Mountain Road (Newton County Road 9560) that crosses Buffalo National River’s Park boundaries. The proposed project is designed to reduce environmental impacts of the current road and improve access. It is funded by the State of Arkansas with the road work to be completed by the Newton County Roads Department.

Rutledge Announces Investigation of GoFundMe for Denying Donations for Freedom Convoy of Truckers

Little Rock– Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge today announced the investigation into GoFundMe for potential violations of the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (ADTPA). Supporters of the truckers’ protest against vaccine mandates in Ottawa, Canada, have donated more than $10 million dollars through the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe. Because the company disagrees with the protest, it recently announced that it would unilaterally end the fundraiser and either refund the money given by the donors or redirect those funds to other causes.

In 1998, the Missouri Department of Conservation confirmed yellow perch in the Missouri side of Bull Shoals Lake.

ASL Announces 2022 Arkansas library leadership institute

Little Rock, Ark. (February 9, 2022) – The Arkansas State Library, a division of the Arkansas Department of Education, is pleased to announce the selection of participants for the 2022 class of the Arkansas Library Leadership Institute (ALL-In). Thirty librarians from across the state of Arkansas were selected from a pool of 59 applicants to participate in a year-long program designed to grow the next generation of library leaders in the state of Arkansas.

AEDC awards $502,838 to support wildlife education, improve school conservation programs

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling $502,838.41 to promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to 183 schools, school districts, and conservation districts in 65 Arkansas counties. These grants are funded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission through fines collected from hunting and fishing violations. Only money collected in the county where the violation occurred may be used as grant funds for that county.
